ART TREK
Heights Boulevard Sculpture Project
Houston, Texas
March 2017 - December 2017
Gus Kopriva of Redbud Gallery and Chris Silkwood, Artist and Community Activist are proud to announce their fourth and final curated sculpture exhibit along the esplanade of Heights Boulevard from the 400 to the 1800 blocks. Gus and Chris are pleased to announce that in 2018, the Houston Heights Association will be taking charge of this beloved public art exhibit.
Gus and Chris have worked very hard over the past few years to raise the funds, select a diverse variety of highly talented sculptors and to organize the many details of this extremely popular art exhibition. The 2017 exhibit will be installed during the first week of March and remain in place to early December. The new sculptures will be placed within the existing locations to include the 400, 600, 800, 900, 1200, 1300, 1600 and 1800 blocks.
Special thanks to committee members Jim Bennett, Simon Eyles, Chris Dray, Bill Baldwin, Joe Turner, Executive Director of the Parks Department, Public Works and our new 501c3 partner, the Houston Heights Association.
The goal of “Art Trek” sculpture project is to organize an exhibition that is a representation of regional works of contemporary art along the esplanade for the enjoyment of our community and visitors. Exhibits – produced by highly recognized Texas artists – will foster the understanding and advancement of art.
The 2017 artists include: James Ciosek, Jon Clark, Dylan Conner, Noah Edmundson, Yuliya Lanina, Zak Miano, Randall Mosman, and Nicola Parente.
We invite you to stroll, jog, bicycle, or drive the Boulevard to enjoy this exciting array of beautiful and whimsical sculptures. Please be sure to share photos on your favorite social media sights.
