Dan Havel (Houston)
"Drawing Assumptions"
July 4 - July 26, 2015

Dan Havel may be best known as a sculptor and creator of large-scale public art in his collaborations with artist Dean Ruck and Havel Ruck Projects. However, drawing has been a major part of his practice as an artist for the last 30 years. "Drawing Assumptions" brings together early works along with new drawings and sculptures that have never been exhibited before.
The exhibit includes works that reflect Havel's long time interest in the physical act of transformation, including work from the 1990's that explored concepts of Alchemy, to recent work that explores the physical and conceptual dismantling of the language of architecture.
Dan Havel, along with Havel Ruck Projects, was named 2015 Art League Texas Artists of the Year. Havel Ruck Projects will also be inducted into the Houston Artist Hall of Fame and be included in a group show at the Houston Fine Art Fair this fall. Dan Havel's work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and is included in the collection at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and several private collections.
This project is funded by a grant from the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
