Redbud Arts Center Presents Emerging Visions: A Celebration of Collegiate Talent.
Get ready to be inspired! We are a passionate young non-profit dedicated to nurturing emerging talent and are thrilled to announce this year's Collegiate Exhibition, Emerging Visions. We will be presenting fresh perspectives and creativity of Houston's promising art students. We warmly invite the community to join us in celebrating these extraordinary young voices.
The opening reception for Emerging Visions will take place on Saturday, July 11th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Redbud Arts Center and we are honored that Clare Elliott, Houston-based independent curator and fine art appraiser, will be the juror for our inaugural Collegiate Juried Exhibition. Elliott will be responsible for selecting the top three Best of Show awardees for this year’s exhibition. Prices will include an exhibition in 2027 in the East Gallery for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place, as well as honorable mentions.
This special evening offers the public the opportunity to meet some of the incredibly gifted student artists, and immerse yourselves in an atmosphere buzzing with creativity and the excitement of discovery.

Emerging Visions is a foundational steppingstone for students, fostering connections within the local art scene and inspiring both their peers and the wider community.

CLARE ELLIOTT
JUROR
A Houston-based independent curator and fine art appraiser, Clare Elliott has more than two decades of experience organizing exhibitions, conducting research, and writing and lecturing about modern and contemporary art. For twenty-two years she was part of the curatorial team at Houston’s prestigious Menil Collection. She is the author of Forrest Bess: Seeing Things Invisible and Artists We’ve Known: Selected Works from the Walter Hopps and Caroline Huber Collection. She is currently the principal of Elliott Art Advice, a boutique art advisory that helps collectors build and manage their art collections. Elliott completed a B.A. in Art History and Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, and an M.A. in Art History from the Williams College–Clark Art Institute Graduate Program in the History of Art. She is a member of the International Society of Appraisers.
SPECS AND DETAILS
ELIGIBILITY: All student artists aged 18 and over who are currently enrolled at a university, college, community college, or have graduated in the Spring of 2026 in Houston, TX are eligible. Entering artists must be prepared to show proof of enrollment with a current student ID. All media are accepted for entry.
MEDIA / SPECIFICATIONS: All media are accepted. 2-D works must not be larger than 72 inches in any direction. Each artist may submit up to three entries. Artists must state the final sale price upon submission. (Prices and/or size of works may be taken into consideration by the jury if deemed excessive for this exhibition.) All entries must accompany an artist statement.
ENTRIES: The deadline for submissions is June 10, 2026, 11:59 PM. Submissions will be accepted online only. Notification of acceptance will be sent by June 20.
EXHIBITION: Emerging Visions 2026 opens July 11, 2026, with a reception and continues through August 29, 2026. All accepted works must remain on view until the close of the exhibition on August 29, 2026.
PRESENTATION: Accepted 2D artworks must be ready to hang for formal gallery presentation with all the necessary hardware (i.e. all paper/mylar/etc. works MUST be framed or mounted, no clips or magnets will be used to hang work.) Accepted 2D artworks MUST HAVE D-RINGS OR WIRE ATTACHED prior to delivery. Each work of art is received in good condition unless otherwise noted. No objects will be exhibited that might be unsafe or cause injury to the Gallery. Works damaged in transit will not be displayed.
DELIVERY of ACCEPTED WORKS: Hand deliveries must arrive at Redbud Arts Center between June 23 – June 27, 2026. Delivery hours are Monday through Saturday 12pm-5pm. Late or damaged deliveries will not be received. Works must be labeled with Artist name, Title of the piece, dimensions, medium, year, and contact information (email, cell).
RETURN of ACCEPTED WORKS: Pick up of artwork begins September 1 – 4 from 12pm to 5pm. Artists are responsible to pick up their works in the provided time frame.
LIABILITY: All reasonable care will be given to objects in the custody of the Redbud Arts Center. Works are insured while on exhibition. The Art Center cannot assume responsibility for damage or deterioration incurred before the exhibition, or after if not removed/picked up as stated above. It is understood that unsold works that are not removed from the exhibition by the end of the loan agreement by the artist/lender will no longer be property of the artist/lender and the Redbud Arts Center reserves the right to use the artwork as it sees fit.
SALES / REPRODUCTION: Artists will receive 70% of the sale price, and the Redbud Arts Center will receive 30% in support of administrative costs. Redbud Arts Center reserves the right to reproduce accepted entries in all exhibition and promotional material.
JUROR INFORMATION: The 2026 juror is Clare Elliot. Three winners selected by the guest juror are awarded. An exhibition in 2027 in the East Gallery for first price, $300 for second prize, and $200 for third prize.
