Redbud Gallery sponsored a fundraising exhibition on January 12, 2002. 100% of the net proceeds were donated to the American Red Cross. Top artists in America created 7.5" x 6.5" works that were available for viewing at Redbud Gallery starting January 8, 2002. Artists Dan Allison, John Baldessari, David Best, Bill Davenport, George Herms, Lucas Johnson, Helen Altman, James Surls, Sharon Kopriva, Dee Wolff, Al Souza, Ed Blackbum, Earl Staley, and many others participated. The name of the artist appeared on the back of each individual piece of art.
All payments for $150 were made out to the American Red Cross Liberty Disaster Relief Fund (New York) or American Red Cross Greater Houston Area. Checks were sent to Redbud Gallery to obtain a ticket for the selection process.
On January 12, 2002 at 7pm, at Redbud Gallery, collectors were able to obtain one piece of art for every ticket purchased, $150 each.
Names were drawn at 7pm, January 12, to determine order of selection. Names were posted and announced, and collectors were given one minute to make a selection.
Collectors’ proxies were accepted if not able to attend the opening on January 12.
For those who were not able to participate on January 12, they were given the opportunity to choose a piece from the remaining works on a first come, first serve basis, on January 13, 2002, from noon to 5pm. The exhibition ended at 6pm, January 13, 2002.
