Richmond Avenue Public Art Trail

Houston, Texas
March 2026 - December 2026
Richmond Avenue 2026

St. George Place Redevelopment Authority/TIRZ 1 is pleased to present to the entire Houston community a sixth set of three-dimensional public art pieces on Richmond Avenue medians between S. Rice and Hillcroft, preserving the southwest side of town’s significant place among the visual art destinations for which our city is known far and wide.

We hope the 10 pieces on the Richmond Avenue public art trail will amuse, entertain and inspire residents, shoppers, visitors and workers alike in the same way that the city’s art cars, first-class art museums, murals and mini-murals do in other locations. Creating the Galleria area’s outdoor gallery is one of many ways in which we are carrying out our mission as public agencies to use physical projects to improve quality of life in the area and spur private investment.

Curator’s Statement

Dear Patrons of the Arts:

This year, for your viewing pleasure, we have changed the format somewhat by introducing 9 new sculptures recently created by Texas artists. One of our sculptures was a remaining piece from last year’s exhibition, placed in honor of the passing of David Adickes, one of Texas’s most iconic sculptors. He is known for his larger-than-life works, including Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, the Beatles, and many others across the country. With his partner’s consent, it is a great honor to be able to show one of his last pieces that he created when he was alive and installed on Richmond Avenue. The artists in this year’s exhibition used a variety of materials not previously seen in the Richmond Public Art Trail, and the results were quite startling. Many participating artists are new to the program. The 2026 Richmond Art Trail exhibition was curated by Tanja Peterson, Executive Director and Curator at Redbud Arts Center, and Joel Jebhani Vargas, Project Manager at Redbud Arts Center.

We hope you enjoy the exhibition. For questions regarding sales or artist intent, catalogs are available through The Redbud Arts
